When you are looking for cookware that is made in America, All-Clad is a name that you can turn to. This company has become quite popular with its amazing line of modern cookware that is the best in looks as well as performance. All-Clad Cookware Sets were originally manufactured for the professional market but it is being becoming common for home cooks, too. Its quality and features are trustworthy. This line of products can handle a stringent workload and each piece is tough. Even the finest details of the pot or pan are produced with perfection, though you could find a few pieces that may have some unimportant snags. The majority of the products are completed with one last hand-finished touch. These are the qualities that have allowed this cookware to make a name for itself in the worldwide cooking market.

Several of the luxury hotels in the world turn to All-Clad Cookware Sets to prepare signature recipes. The All-Clad products have made a place for themselves in not only the professional food industry, but also in the kitchens of dedicated amateurs. Cooking ranges belonging to this company have been relied on by some of the domestic culinary stars for a long time. The recipes cooked in them are astounding on a variety of levels.

All-Clad Cookware Sets basically consists of a three-ply body, made of an aluminum core that is the reason for even and fast distribution of heat from the source to each and every area of the cooking surface. This can help you save on the fuel and time resources that you spend on cooking. The stainless steel cooking surfaces are nonstick, tough against corrosion, and are simple to clean and maintain. You can cook very healthy food with this cookware because the non-stick layer ensures that you need to use less oil or butter for cooking. The magnetic outer surface makes it possible for one to use induction stoves in place of the typical oven.

The handles of this cookware are tightly riveted to the bodies of the cookware so that they will not come off easily. They are long, grooved at the top, and rounded off at the bottom to give you a better grip. They do not heat up along with the cookware when cooking. They are designed to offer you ultimate usage comfort.

All-Clad Stainless Steel Cookware, though declared the best by many reviewers, is not completely free of defects. It has been found that many of the pieces are sent out with defects. This emphasizes the need for stricter quality control rules from the company. Secondly, the cookware is pretty large. Thirdly, the All-Clad kitchenware is quite expensive. The bulkiness and top tier cost make it more useful for commercial use. The domestic client base can be expected to grow if the company produces cookware that is lighter and easier to afford. The quality concerns need to be resolved, as well.

No doubt, about it, Mexican food is one of the most popular foods in the United States. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and quesadillas are just some of the fare that grace many an American table. Mexican recipes are spicy, colorful, and full of flavor. However, what may seem to be quintessential Mexican is not always the case. A little Mexican food history will reveal that things are not always, as they seem.

Although the Mayan culture is often credited for giving Mexican food its roots, the strongest influence came from the Spanish when they invaded Mexico in 1521. Cortez, the Spanish explorer, along with his followers, introduced many new foods into the Mexican culture. Pigs, cows and sheep as well as herbs, dairy products and various spices such as garlic had never graced a Mexican table until that time.

While Cortez introduced many new foods to Mexico, he was also, in turn, introduced to some new foods. Peanuts, chocolate, vanilla, beans, avocados, coconuts, tomatoes, corn, and squash were among the “new” foods that Cortez encountered. It was a well-balanced trade of regional delicacies and palate pleasing foods.

Mexican food history is an interesting mixture of cultures. Many of the Mexican foods that are so-called “traditional” are actually rooted in other cultures in addition to the Mexican culture. Take quesadillas as an example. This mainstay of Mexican families is often considered to be quintessential Mexican, but in actuality, it takes its components from other cultures. The corn tortilla, the foundation for the quesadilla, is actually a Native American creation.

The cheese, pork, beef, and lettuce that grace so many of our favorite Mexican dishes, including the quesadilla, are Spanish. The hot sauce that is made from chili pepper, though, is indigenous to Mexico. However, it is a little known Mexican food history fact that many of the spices thought to be Mexican are actually Spanish in origin. Black pepper, cinnamon, coriander and oregano are several spices that are often used in Mexican cooking but are not native to the country.

In addition to the Mayans, Native Americans and Spanish influencing Mexican food, the French also left their mark. When Mexico was briefly under French occupation in the 1860’s, popular dishes such as chiles en nogado, a dish of stuffed chilies in walnut sauce, was a result. These dishes sport a distinct French flair, but have become a standard part of Mexican culture.

While Spain and France have had strong influences in Mexican food history, perhaps one of the most popular has been the influence from the Southwest United States. Texas, to be exact. This interesting style of Mexican food, “Tex-Mex” is served in many restaurants the world over and is considered “Mexican food” although this is not necessarily the case. It is an often spicy, delicious blend of both cultures and has become widely accepted the world over.

Mexican food history has enjoyed many different cultural influences, making it varied and rich. This variety of cultural adaptations makes Mexico a veritable melting pot of culinary experiences. This has worked in its favor, though, with delicious dishes and are popular and fun - to eat and to create.

Reynolds has had a reputation for decades as one of the top companies in food storage systems. One of the handiest products available from this manufacturer is the Reynolds vacuum sealer, the Handi-Vac. The Handi-Vac helps foods to remain fresh and extends the amount of time you can safely store foods. The best advantage of this is that the vacuum sealer is simple to use as well.

The Handi-Vac vacuum sealer is a product that changes the way people use vacuum sealers. Instead of being required to bring the food to a stationary sealer, the user can simply take the Handi-Vac vacuum sealer and apply it to a Handi-Vac freezer bag. The Handi-Vac is used to create heat in order to seal the bag securely and then remove the air from the bag.

The air valve exclusive to the Handi-Vac vacuum sealer removes the air which would otherwise be trapped in the sealed area of the bag. Consequently, freezer burn will be minimized and the food will stay fresh longer.

The procedure which the user follows for sealing in freshness with the vacuum sealer is not hard at all. First, the food is placed in the bag. Next, the bag is arranged spread out on a surface and examined to ensure that no food is over the maximum fill line on the Handi-Vac bag. Next, the sealer tip is placed flush on the air valve and the “on” button is pushed. When the bag is snug around the food, the machine is shut off and the food is placed directly into the freezer.

One of the best things about the Handi-Vac vacuum sealer is that it does not cost as much as other vacuum sealers. The whole package costs about ten dollars at most retailers. What’s more, the Handi-Vac performs quicker than more expensive sealers. It can take seconds to take care of a typical gallon sized bag.

Bags for the Handi-Vac sealer are also found with ease at retailers where the Handi-Vac sealer can be purchased. The bags usually run approximately $3.29 for a set of fourteen quart bags or nine gallon bags.

It is worth mentioning that the bags can be resealed after they are opened. However, they must not be refilled with more food for the reason that the bag cannot be cleaned. The bags contain no Teflon or PTFE materials, nor are any allergens in the bags. The bags are also certified kosher.

The Reynolds Handi-Vac vacuum sealer is a superb food storage method to use in your kitchen. The Handi-Vac vacuum sealer is economical and is simple to use. The Handi-Vac can be purchased at most kitchenware stores as well as the replacement bags which go with it.

Trying to plan dinners on a daily basis can make cooking meals a dreaded chore. Not only do you waste time with extra trips to the grocery store but the added costs of gas to get your there, combined with the higher price of prepackaged food, means your spending more money on food than you need to. Using a weekly meal plan means fewer trips to the store and less hassle for you.

Break out the Cookbooks

Everyone has a spare ten minutes on the weekend to plan meals for the week. Take a few minutes to sit down, go through your favorite cookbooks or online recipe sites and plan a dinner meal for the next seven days. Make one list of each complete meal, including main dish and any side dishes, while making another list of the food items you’ll need to pick up for the week’s meals.

A trick to make cooking meals on your busiest days of the week even easier is to intentionally plan meals for that day which require very little prep time. Meats that can be marinated over night and grilled quickly work well, as do one dish meals such as stir fries. Also, don’t forget the handiest of kitchen appliances for those on a time crunch-the crock pot. Stews and other delicious meals can be prepped ahead of time and then left to simmer all day with very little effort on your part.

Save Money and Time by Shopping Wisely

Purchasing your food items in bulk not only saves you money but can, over time, lessen your trips to the grocery store. By building up a reserve of frequently used food items you can trim both the length of your grocery list and the fat from your grocery budget.

By contrast items that spoil quickly should be purchased in quantities just large enough to tie you over to your next trip to the grocery store. Buying a large bag of celery may seem like a deal but only if you don’t end up throwing two thirds of it away because it spoiled before you could use it all. If you find that you do need to buy items with a shorter shelf life in larger quantities try and plan at least two meals within the next 10 days that require that particular food item.

Revisit Those Leftovers

Don’t forget that many leftover meats can be revisited at a later date if frozen immediately. Items such as leftover post roast, chicken or even pork roast can be frozen and used as meats in a stew weeks from now. Cooking meals with leftover ingredients not only saves you money on that particular meal but means there’s one less day to plan a meal for.

Double the Batch for Half the Work

Another fabulous way to cut down on meal choice and prep is to make double batches of dishes that can be frozen and enjoyed later. Many soups, sauces and pasta dishes such as lasagna will freeze well for short periods of time. Marinating meat for dinner? Make a double batch-one for that day’s meal and another one to freeze immediately and pull out another day. Your frozen batch will marinate while thawing and be ready for the grill or oven the next time you include that meal in your weekly planner with no prep time required.

The old saying goes,” He who fails to plan, plans to fail.” If you feel like you’re flunking out of home-ec due to your last minute meals and climbing grocery bill fight back by taking a few minutes to make a weekly meal plan. Cooking meals when you have a plan is easier, cheaper and can even make you love cooking again.

You’re sure to wonder just how your mom or grandma ever put it all together, and made it look easy. With a bit of practice, you’ll be able to manage it quite well too.

To begin with, the way to best survive your first big dinner is to plan the day ahead of time. It’s not just about the cooking, but about the arrangements. For instance, where will your guests eat? How is your supply of dinnerware, glassware, flatware, and serveware? A good place to start is by making a list of the items you’ll need, and get them in advance of the big day. You’ll want to consider who your guest will be - is it your friends who will be quite content with a casual event, or is it your in-laws who you need to impress?

Next it’s time to start thinking about the menu options. Many people have sentimental attachments to their favorite family dishes. Some might be hoping you’ll make their favorite cornbread stuffing, others are expecting a delicious sweet potato pie. Hopefully you’ve kept the guest list somewhat small for your first holiday meal, so you shouldn’t be expecting to cook everything for a crowd normally associate with the big holiday dinner.

If this is your first holiday dinner, and you need to allow for that in your planning. You probably aren’t yet experienced at cooking a lot of dishes in large quantities, so edit your list. Include some sentimental favorites, maybe add something new you think is interesting, but keep it as simple as possible. Assemble your recipes (from the family files, cookbooks, or the Internet) and write down a shopping list. Again, check and see what equipment the recipes need.

So you have your kitchen supplies in order, and now you can concentrate on the food. Double check your grocery list to make sure you have it all covered - this way you’ll avoid last minute dashes to the store. If you’re planning the meal around a main dish such as ham or turkey, make sure you have the ordered or purchased days in advance. Then purchase the rest of the items you’ll need for your side dishes and drinks, waiting until the day or 2 before to buy the most perishable items.

The next step is to prepare your kitchen. About a week before the holiday scrub your kitchen top to bottom. Clean out your pantry and your refrigerator. Try to live off of food you already have in your kitchen to save space and money. Check everything you will use to cook and serve your dinner. Put everything you will need in easy reach. Even if this requires rearranging your cabinets, the time it will save on the big day will be worth.

To keep the stress out of the holiday, review your recipes the night before and double-check your ingredients. If there are some dishes that can be prepared in advance, take care of those too. These simple steps will assure you a much smoother start to your holiday cooking. Try to make a schedule with cooking times and temps on your remaining dishes and keep that handy for the big day. And remember it’s your holiday too, so make sure you take the time to enjoy it and the food.

Grilled steaks are enjoyed by several people. It is not tough to grill steaks but you will be able to grill more tasty steaks with the help of a few techniques that are used for preparing steaks. Listed are a few easy tips on how to prepare the steak before grilling it.

There are some individuals who remove the steak from the freezer and immediately place it on the hot grill. Some of them may even keep it in the fridge for some hours so that it thaws before it is grilled. In fact it is always better to keep the steaks outside for few hours so that it comes to room temperature before it is placed on the grill. You will have to eat unevenly cooked steak if you don’t defreeze it properly as the cooking will not be even. The parts which are colder will cook less when compared to the thawed sections.

It is extremely important to prepare the steak well before you put it on the grill. It is a good idea to trim the extra fat from the steak as it is done with other kinds of meat. This fat is of no use and it does not allow the steak to cook well and consistently. The steak will come out better if you marinate it with the spices for a longer period of time but don’t let it sit for more than twenty-four hours.

The temperature at which the grill is heated is also important. It is best to keep the heat to the maximum in a gas grill and you should also have high heat on the charcoal grill. You can check this as the charcoal turns white when it is very hot. The hotter the grill the better it gets, so you can even cover the grill. The steaks cook best and also properly when the grill is very hot so make sure that it gets especially hot.

The way it cooks on the grill depends on how well you have prepared the steak. If you follow the tips mentioned afore, you can be sure that your steak will be cooked to perfection and you will enjoy it.

If you thrive in the crowd and love everything about food, your ideal entrepreneurial niche could be a catering business. The challenges in a catering business include back-breaking hours at the stove and lots of physically laborious activities, but the ultimate rewards are definitely worth all the hard work.

It’s not compulsory to have a culinary degree to start your own catering business. However, familiarity with food safety measures, preparation techniques, presentation and of course, governmental procedures for setting up and maintaining the business will come in handy. Also, as common sense tells you, prepared food must be eye-appealing and delicious at the same time.

If you are seriously contemplating catering as a career, you can start by collecting information. You can read stuff related to catering and nothing beats all the resources that the internet provides. Important information to look for is regarding licensing and approvals, as per the law in your region.

The first thing you will want to do after conducting research is to organize your information and create a business and marketing plan. If you aren’t familiar with these documents, type in “business plan” or “marketing plan” at your favorite search engine. You can find everything you need online or at the library. The Small Business Association (SBA) offers a wide variety of publications and classes for budding entrepreneurs. The website is located at www.sba.org.

The next step is finance. Having your hands on a good business plan and marketing strategy will give you a fairly accurate idea of the kind of credit you will require, as well as increase your chances of quick loan approval. You can get this done through banks and finance companies. Obviously, you will have to invest a small fraction of the total budget upfront. Even as you do this, take care that you do not end up investing more than you can afford losing.

It’ll be a joyous experience when you first establish your catering business, but it’s essential to keep in mind that you’ll be multitasking during the first few months. Besides food preparation and event catering, you’ll need quite a good knowledge about advertising and marketing to find new sales opportunities. Furthermore, there are the daily operations necessary for your business, such as telephone answering, follow-ups, price quotations, ordering supplies, accounts managements and more.

Catering businesses are profitable, but initially you will have to work hard to make your business stand on its own, and have it well established, before you can relax.

Running a catering business on your own will require hard work, perseverance and patience. There are so many jobs like serving food, taking orders, billings, mundane chores, cleaning, etc. that can tire you out.

Chances are you will spend most of the day on your feet. Many caterers work 12 to 15 hours per day, seven days a week. Oftentimes catered events are hosted outdoors, so you must be able to deal with the heat of long summer days and maintain a positive and friendly attitude.

Work is never really “work” when you enjoy what you do, no matter how challenging it is. While it can be stressful and rarely give you any personal time, your investments from every category, be it money, time or energy, will be highly rewarded with great profits and satisfaction.

In this era of renaissance, people are becoming aware of everything - and one of the oldest matters is kitchen. Simply by toggling on the television set, you will hit upon most channels keen on broadcasting to cooking and baking lip smacking meals. This is a way to shift from the very old trend of creating quick, trouble-free meals that are meant to be enjoyed. However, the thought of people has shifted away from matters of handiness to good and mouthwatering food.

As the people were hit by the fast rate of modern living, the slow food movement took its origin in Europe many years back. This movement focused on changing away from food as fuel to food as something to be beyond doubt amazing. The slow food movement perhaps is able to tell the revival of what for a flash seem to be a missing art: the sugar craft but now it is acknowledged as cake decoration.

The rising popularity of cake decoration can be seen in the rising amount of adjectives that there are for it: pastry art, sugar craft, etc, all are a sign of a better trend: the return of cake decorating. Cake decorating has always been a in style hobby among that foodie who cannot refuse to accept a soft or sparkling dessert, but it had to go through a quite delayed period where awareness in cake decoration waned. But now, after a deep slumber, cake decoration has made a come back with a settling of scores. A lot of people, both women and men, have shown a wish in cooking and baking, and no where this is more obvious than in cake decoration and beautification.

After a long sleep cake decoration as a popular hobby. Why? The main reason appears to be that cake decorating has gained in popularity because, of all the suitable for eating arts, it is the one that is nearest to what we assumed of customary art. After all, specialized cake decorators have to be acquainted with a lot about design, decorative work, sophisticated script work, color and even shape. Cake decorating, one can see, involves the entire mind: feel, sense, smell and vision. A few would dispute that there is no lovelier food than a magnificently decorated cake.

Another major aspect of the appeal of cake decorating appears to be that it is not easy. That is, many people are drawn to cake decoration because they understand that it will be a challenge to them. Much as a person might be inclined to sign up to run a marathon in order to challenge themselves, another person might be inclined to sign up for a cake decorating class in order to challenge themselves in the kitchen. In this sense, the well-decorated cake is much like the holy grail of the kitchen-it is something for all passionate chefs and pastry artists to strive for.

If cake decorating is one thing that you have always wanted to attempt, but have never dared to undertake, this is the time. There are many cake decorating lessons being obtainable at local community colleges all through the country, and there are many successful cooking academies that let you to learn for a certificate or diploma in the pastry arts, and more exclusively, cake decorating. If you are fascinated in cake decorating, keep in mind that the delightful cake does not emerge all on its own-someone has to take out the time to put it collectively, sugar crystal by sugar crystal. Why can’t this someone be you?

History has proven that beef jerky is one of the most popular foods made by our ancestors. There have been new methods like freezing chemicals.

Most Jerky lovers still like the flavor and ease of beef jerky which is mainly made from beef but has been recently added to by other flavours like camel and kangaroo.

When making jerky all the fat and moisture must be removed, jerky is in general a very good source of energy. Some times these benefits are offset by the many chemicals added by some jerky businesses.

For Making your own health jerky follow these steps

1. Choose your meat, save your time with lean beef cuts, this is the easiest way to good jerky.

2. Cutting the beef into strips less than 3.2 mm thick (1/8 ich) will give you the best results

3. Make slicing easy partly freeze your meat and make cleaner cuts.

4. Trim all the fat because this does not freeze and can turn bad which will ruin your effort.

5. While you can use the ingredients of your choice, the traditional is marinade in vinigar and sea salt in your fridge up to 24 hours.

6. Coatting the meat with flavouring of your choice ( unfortuneately sometimes this does make it sticky) try different things and see which results you like.

7. The meat needs to dehydrate this is done by leaving gaps between the slices . When dehydrators are used you need non stick spray on racks. When using ovens set them at 70 c allow them to preheat. Always keep in mind that the goal is dehydration not cooking.

8. The next step is watching most times this take 7 to 13 hours, check your jerky regularly until its consistency is what you are looking for.

9. To keep your jerky fresh keep it in a frige or freezer until needed.

For best results eat your home made jerky within one week. But don’t forget you can save some time because there are some companies that use traditional methods to produce their jerky.
